James Cornelison

Mr. James Erin Cornelison, 93, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Center Cross Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Pastor Grant Hoffman and Rev. J. Harold Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Montgomery County, NC, Mr. Cornelison was born March 31, 1921. He was the son of the late Christopher Columbus Cornelison and Deborah Alice Hursey Cornelison. He retired from Union Carbide after 36 years. He was a hard worker and loved his family, birds and animals. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cornelison was preceded in death by his son, Edward Cornelison, one brother and four sisters. Mr. Cornelison served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Cornelison, is survived by his wife of 73 years, Stacy Freeman Cornelison of the home; daughters, Carol Perdue, and husband, Clay, of Louisburg, NC, Lynda Williams, and husband, David, of Asheboro, NC, Pam Congleton, and husband, Tony, of Matthews, NC, Rhonda Parker, and husband, Joseph, of Charlotte, NC; daughter-in-law, Brenda Cornelison, of Star, NC; grandchildren, Randall Cornelison, and wife Holly, Lee Cornelison, and wife Priscilla, Amy Donahue and husband, Jim, Christy Perdue, Cortney Holshouser, and husband Karl, Anthony Cornelison, Lisa Hansen, and husband, Wayne, Natalie Williams, Aubrey Starr, and husband, Seth, Jimmy Congleton, Rebekah Parker, and fiancé Billy Weisgerber, Benjamin Parker; great grandchildren, Kate Archer, Bud Archer, Brandon Cornelison, Justin Cornelison, Heidi Cornelison, Emory Donahue, Lucas Starr. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
