James Bondurant

James William Bondurant, Jr., 71, of High Point, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Charles Reeder officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Star. Born April 8, 1945 in Newport News, VA, Jim was the son of the late James William Bondurant, Sr. and Myrtle Sykes Bondurant. He graduated from Seagrove High School in 1963. After graduating from Wingate College, he attended North Carolina State University. During this time Jim took a leave of absence to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he attended Officer Candidate School in Fort Sill, OK. He served as Executive Officer of Service-Battery 4th Battalion 113th FA, where he held the rank of Lieutenant. After receiving an honorable discharge, Jim returned to NCSU, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He graduated in 1970 with a degree in textile engineering. Throughout his career, Jim worked for Jefferson Mills in Pulaski, VA, Fieldcrest in Eden, NC, and Kayser Roth in Lumberton, Kernersville, Burlington and Greensboro, where he retired from the corporate office. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two sisters, Patty and Patricia. Jim leaves behind his family, whom he dearly loved; his wife, Joyce James Bondurant of the home; daughter, Suzanne Bondurant Badgett and husband, Rex and their children, Sam and Anna, all of Foxfire Village, NC; son, James William "Beau" Bondurant, III and his daughters, MacKenzie and Emory Bondurant, all of High Point. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home.
