Jackie Lee Tart, 72, formerly of Asheboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025 at The Randolph Hospice House, leaving behind a trail of broken hearts and fond memories.
A graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, with Mr. Larry Needham officiating.
Born in Bennettsville, SC, on February 10, 1953, Jackie was the son of the late Jack Tart and Zena Byrd. To know Jack was to love him, and for many women, it was impossible to do otherwise. He was known for his quick wit, mischievous smile, and a unique ability to make every woman he met feel like the only one in the room.
Jack was a man of his word, and expected the same of others. He found dignity and a purpose in his work and taught us all that there is honor in a hard day's labor. To him a job well done wasn't just a phrase, but a personal commitment and a point of pride. Independence and self sufficiency were traits that exemplified Jack. His children and family meant the most to him.
In his younger years, Jack excelled in sports. Being an excellent pitcher in high school caught the eye of summer semi-pro leagues where he played. Jack's love of baseball was infectious. Still to this day his friends reminisce about "the good old days of baseball."
Jack was a proud business owner and entrepreneur, and the proverbial "Jack of All Trades." Building, painting, and a store owner at Topsail Beach for over 20 years were just a few things that Jack accomplished.
Traveling over the world showcased what an adventurous spirit Jack had. His time at Topsail Beach brought some of the best memories of his life. The lasting influence of his store, Rare Earth, will always be remembered in the small community of Topsail Beach.
In addition to his parents, Jack was sadly preceded in death by his son, Jarrett Tart.
Survivors include his "High School Sweetheart," Gwyn Moore; daughter, Dana Tart Cauthen (Kane) of Hampstead, NC; son, Justin Ryan Tart of Topsail Beach, NC; brother, Steve Tart of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Kana Cauthen, Brody Cauthen, Marley Cauthen, Jaden McGee; the mother of his 3 children, Debbie Lofton; and numerous other family members.
The family will have a celebration of Jackie's life after the service from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at The Flying Pig Food & Spirits, 208 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, 27203.
