James Elmer "Jack" Sutton, 88, of Asheboro, died Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 7, 2018, at 4:00 p.m., in the Christian Life Center at Cross Road Baptist Church, 1566 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, NC. Born in Guilford County, NC, on September 15, 1929, Mr. Sutton was the son of the late Earl E. Sutton and Gelia T. Sutton. Mr. Sutton began his career with Baldwin Garrett Co., Greensboro, selling International Harvester equipment and retired from James River Tractor, Asheboro, a John Deere dealer with over 60 years service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sutton was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph T. Sutton, and son-in-law Erik Jersted. He is survived by his wife, of 67 years, Rachel H. Sutton; daughters, Sharon Jersted of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Cathy Wray and husband, David, of Climax; sister, Merle Coble and husband, Russell, of Greensboro; brother-in-law, Herbert Hussey; sister-in-law, Faye Sutton; grandchildren, Lindsey Wray of Climax, Taylor Wray and wife, Caroline, of Charlotte; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Home of NC, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360.
