Ivey Wyatt Nance, 87, of 5647 Brantley Gordon Road, Denton, died Monday, February 8, 2010, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Salem Fellowship Church, with the Rev. Steven Nance and the Rev. J. Harold Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Nance was born July 6, 1922, the son of the late Carl and Nannie Hill Nance. He was retired from Union Carbide / Energizer after 34 years of service and was a member of Salem Fellowship Church, where he served in various offices. Mr. Nance served in the 339th Fighter Squadron of Army Air Corp during World War II. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Branson Nance, J. Van Nance, Dwight Nance, Charles Nance; and sisters, Frances N. Hunt and Lucille N. Varner. Surviving are his wife, Troy Jean Nance, of the home; daughter, Iva Jean Brady and her husband, Steven, of Asheboro; sons, Gary W. Nance, Steven Nance and his wife, Margie, all of Denton; sister, Glee Arnold, of Lexington; grandchildren, Steven Nance, Matthew Nance, Holly Farmer, Josh McDaniel; great grandchildren, Jacob Nance, Jadon Nance and Jackson Wyatt Farmer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2009 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. The family would like to thank the staff of Clapp's Nursing Home or the loving care given to Mr. Nance.
