Irvin Clay Kearns, 71, of Denton, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Randolph Health in Asheboro. A celebration of life will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Jody Harrison and Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Kearns was born November 1, 1945, to the late Sherman and Susie Kearns. He worked at Wayne Thomas Chevrolet for 53 years. Mr. Kearns was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher. He loved gardening. Mr. Kearns is survived by his wife, Peggy Kearns of the home; daughter, Teresa Peele and husband, Wayne of Denton; son, Rodney Kearns and wife, Cynthia of Denton; sisters, Ruth Whitt and husband, Rick of Randleman, Nora Coulson of Asheboro; brothers, Jerry Kearns and wife, Ann, Lloyd Kearns and wife, Melissa, Randall Kearns and wife, Sandy, all of Asheboro;and grandchildren, Chasity Chen and husband, Matthew, Chase Leviner, Morgan Kearns and Logan Kearns. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., Thursday, at Bethel Baptist Church, prior to the service and other times at the home of his daughter, Teresa Peele.
