Irene Staley

Irene Lambeth Staley, 95, formerly of Asheboro, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Bethel Baptist Church, Asheboro with Rev. Claudie Harrison and Dr. Jody Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Born on August 24, 1924, in Randolph Co., Irene was the daughter of the late Alvin Henry Lambeth and Lula Kindley Lambeth. She was a lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church where she loved the Lord. On November 3, 1944, she married her first love, Sam Staley in Chesterfield, South Carolina. Mrs. Staley loved the outdoors. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, where she grew beautiful roses, peonies, irises, and african violets. Her neighbors would often stop by when they saw her gardening or tending to her beloved cows. She was an amazing cook; everyone loved her biscuits and fried chicken. Her great grandson, Blake, was the love of her life. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Staley; daughter, Nancy Staley Murphy, siblings, James Arthur "Bug" Lambeth, Pauline Lambeth Simpson, Lee Loflin, Janie A. Lambeth, Limuel W. Lambeth, Clay L. Lambeth, Ori Loflin. She is survived by her granddaughter, Sharon Murphy Pierce and husband Rodney of Thomasville; great grandson Blake Hunter Pierce of Thomasville; son-in-law, Charles Murphy of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of the granddaughter, Sharon Pierce.
