Inez Kennedy Carter, 81, of Asheboro, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Central Carolina Community Church (C4), 1128 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, where Inez attended, with Pastor Ed Arroyo officiating. A burial will be held at a Randolph Memorial Park.

Inez was born on October 6, 1944, in Randolph County, the daughter of the late Colvin Vernon Kennedy and Connie Greene Kennedy. Inez graduated as the Valedictorian of her class at Seagrove High School. She then accepted scholarships to Catawba College in Salisbury, NC, where she graduated with two majors in education. During her time in college, she was so happy to spend a college summer working an internship at the Washington Monument. Early in her career, Inez taught math at Seagrove High School and enjoyed watching her students learn and grow. She volunteered for many years in the church nursery; children brought her joy and always made her smile. When she wasn't busy taking care of others, she was cooking, baking, and caring for her family. Inez was a selfless and caring person, and she sewed for countless customers all over North Carolina and the east coast. Chances are that she had probably sewn for you at some point. She made a career out of working with fabrics and would craft pillows, drapes, and even blankets for newborns. She loved her customers and enjoyed making their homes a little brighter, and she followed this passion throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Buelin Carter; sister, Rebecca Kennedy Barnes; brother, Wayne Kennedy; half-brother, Marty Kennedy; and grandson, Andrew Carter.

She is survived by her sons, Gregory Carter and wife Renee of Asheboro, Christopher Carter and wife Brenda Starner of Jamestown; sister, Sabrina Kennedy and husband Chris Black; brother, Gregory Kennedy and wife Donna; sister Rhonda and husband Tony Mashburn; Brother-in-Law Joel Barnes; Grandchildren – Kennedy Carter; Jakob Carter; Kaitlyn Williamson; Hailey Williamson; Josiah Carter; Christian and wife Jennifer Carter, and their children Lyla and Roland Carter; Z’yerah, Clyde, Ellie, and Atlas.
