Ina Spencer Cox

Mrs. Ina Elma Spencer Cox, 86, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, July 23, 2012, at Holly Spring Friends Meeting, where she was a member, with Rev. Don Hurlburt and Rev. Todd Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the meeting cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Cox was born August 29, 1925. She was the daughter of the late John Madison Spencer and Annie Farlow Spencer. Ina was a Sunday School teacher, a quilt maker, great seamstress; and she loved to read and write poetry. She loved her family and wanted them to love Jesus. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Anderson Elwood Cox; brother, Oscar Spencer; and sisters, Alice Elder, Eunice Walker and Hazel Gray. Mrs. Cox is survived by daughters, Andrea C. Sykes and husband, Kenneth, of Asheboro, NC, Gail C. Hurlburt, and husband, Don, of Randleman, NC, Vickie C. Whitaker and husband, David, of Asheboro, NC, Pamela C. Lewis and husband, John, of Ramseur, NC, Patricia C. Lever and husband, Art, of Anderson, SC, Phyllis A. Cox, of Asheboro, NC, Melinda C. Bullard and husband, Steve, of Asheboro, NC; sons, Gary L. Cox, and wife, Judy, of Ramseur, NC, Max A. Cox and wife, Geneva, of Asheboro, NC; sister, Angela Steed; grandchildren, Jennifer Schwarz, Kevin Cox, Jody Cox, Keith Sykes, Amy Purdue, Angela Rogalski, Rev. Andrew Hurlburt, Sherry Bray, April Smith, Mandy Lewis, Deanna Lewis, Travis Lewis, Adam Lever, Dr. Michelle Garrison, Melissa Cox, Taryn Brown, Elise Wright, Andee Bullard; and 19 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Vickie and David Whitaker.
