Homer Leon Allred, Sr.

January 31, 1941 — October 30, 2024

Homer Leon Allred Sr., 83, of Franklinville, NC, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at his home.


A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Grant Taylor and Brother Josh Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.


Mr. Allred was born in Huntsville, AL on January 31, 1941, the son of the late Garland Eugene Allred and Clara Whitehead Allred. Homer had a passion for racing that started in the 1960's. He raced at Caraway Speedway, Dixie Speedway, Seven Springs Speedway, Rome Georgia Speedway and Winder Speedway to name a few. His passion for racing spread even further than just the track, helping other drivers as a set up man and was one of the best tire men around. He was inducted into the Caraway Speedway Hall of Fame in honor of his work, love, teaching and dedication to the sport. Homer would help anyone and give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed teaching young men about hard work, and was a genuine "man's man". He was knowledgeable in many subjects especially painting and numbers. He loved animals, his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved to teach.


In addition to his parents, Mr. Allred was preceded in death by his sisters, Eva Hughes, Barbara Krauss, and Helen feathers.


Mr. Allred is survived by his wife, Donna Allred of the home; daughter, Sheila Allred Blackburn and husband Jay of Randleman; sons, Buddy Allred, and his wife Darla of Randleman, Michael Lee Allred of Randleman; sisters, Betty Eisenhart of GA, Wanda Feathers of Asheboro, Ruth Davis of Asheboro; brothers, Raymond Allred of GA, Daniel Allred of GA; grandchildren, Grant, Josh, Chelsea, Caleb; great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Joshua, Sierra, Braxton, Macey, Luke, Davey, Hyles, Peggy, Mason, Kyerstin; many nieces and nephews, and his favorite dog, "Trouble".


The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.


Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 4431 Bowman Avenue, Randleman, NC 27317, for relief for Hurricane Helene.
