Herbert Russell

Herbert Allo Russell, 86, of Asheboro, died Friday, July 14, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Born on March 1, 1931 in Moore County, NC, Mr. Russell was the son of the late Lester Allo Russell and Anna Bell Medlin Russell. He was an electrian and a member of Russell Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Russell was a charter member of the Ulah Fire Department and served for 36 years. He also served on the Board of Directors for several years. Mr. Russell was a member of the Randolph County Fireman's Association and served in the US Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Anne Russell; brothers, J.T. Russell and Hartsell "Lee" Russell. Surviving are his daughter, Tina Russell Thompson of Asheboro; son, David Russell and partner, Rodney Potts of Asheboro; sisters, Betty Gilchrist of Asheboro, Barbara Brower, of Asheboro, Laura Jarrell of High Point, Mary York of Asheboro; brothers, Garland Russell, Hoyt Russell, both of Asheboro; grandchild, Dustin Russell and wife, Kathryn of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
