Herbert L. Garner

Herbert Lee Garner, 89, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Vuncannon officiating. Burial will follow at Huldah Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Chatham County, Mr. Garner was born April 8, 1926 to the late W.E. and Cora Garner. He worked for Seagrove Lumber Company until it closed and then retired from Lucks, Inc. Mr. Garner served in the US Navy during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Garner. Mr. Garner is survived by his son, Michael Lee Garner and wife, Mary L., of Asheboro; brothers, Wilson Garner and wife, Martha, Wallace Garner and wife, Betty, all of Asheboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
