Henry R. Jones

Henry Robert Jones, 83, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Universal Healthcare in Ramseur. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Lambe officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors provided by The Randolph County Honor Guard. Born February 12, 1935 in Randolph County, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Thomas Elwood and Mattie Caviness Jones. He was a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting, where he was an Elder and had served as Sunday school superintendent. Mr. Jones was a self-employed barber for 20 years and later worked at Black & Decker for 25 years. After his retirement he worked at Ridge Funeral Home for 15 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his four-wheeler in the woods and listening to blue grass music. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert, Marvin, Ernest and Eli Jones; and his sister, Alice Simmons. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Kinlaw Jones of the home; daughter, Sarah Lynn Jones of Knightdale; son, Thomas Michael Jones and wife, Carla of Liberty; and granddaughter, Sarah Michelle Jones of Liberty. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Back Creek Friends Meeting, 147 Back Creek Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205.
