Henry C. Johnson

Mr. Henry Clay Johnson, Jr., 93, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Randolph Hospital Inc. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Rabon and the Rev. Randy Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery. A native of Guilford County, Mr. Johnson was born May 23, 1917, the son of the late Henry C. Johnson, Sr., and Callie Rieves Johnson. He was the former co-owner of Millikan Johnson Lumber Company. He enjoyed reading and spending time at home with his family. One of his greatest accomplishments was building each of his children a home. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Cox Johnson. Survivors include his daughters, Phyllis J. Tysor and husband, Howard, Deborah J. Draughn and husband, Larry, all of Asheboro; son, Gene Johnson and wife, Cathy, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Susan Tysor and husband, Steve Pritchard, Kent Tysor and special friend, Shelly Gordon, all of Asheboro, Ryan Draughn and wife, Laurie, of Sanford, Julian Draughn and wife, Shanda, of Randleman; great grandchildren, Kacie Ward, John Waynick, Haley Draughn, Taylor Draughn, Brooklyn Draughn; step great grandchildren, Aaron Pritchard, Lauren Pritchard; step great-great grandchild, Gracie Pritchard. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6 until 8 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2010, and other times at the home of Phyllis and Howard Tysor, 2012 McPherson St, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs of White Oak Family Physicians, Randolph Hospital, Universal Healthcare and Hospice of Randolph County. An extra special thanks is given to his caregiver, Veronica Rouse.
