Helen M. Nance

Helen Ettawa Morgan Nance, 87, of Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, Asheboro, NC. Officiating will be Rev. Lynda Ferguson. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Born July 15, 1930, in Guilford Co., NC, Mrs. Nance was the daughter of the late Percy and Annie Johnson Morgan. She was a graduate of Farmer High School, class of 1948, and was a member of Farmer Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church, Asheboro, and United Methodist Women. She had worked at First National Bank, as a teacher aide at Charles McCrary Elementary School, at D & N Mobile Home, and later owned and operated This 'n' That Shoppe. Mrs. Nance was a Girl Scout leader, a pianist for her Sunday School class, a seamstress and a quilter. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Jack C. Nance, of the home; daughters, Ann N. Shaw, of Asheboro, Kay N. Freeman, of Mint Hill, NC; grandchildren, Carey Shaw, of Asheboro, C.T. Shaw (Holly) of Leland, NC, Brent Beasley (Mark) of Hartsville, SC, Abby Lesslie (Robbie) of Charleston, SC, Jordan Amaker (Marcus) of Charleston, SC; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, prior to the service at First United Methodist Church.
