Hazel Garner Owens

Hazel Marie Garner Owens, 88, of Asheboro, NC, died on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Richland Baptist Church, Asheboro, with Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Born on July 4, 1926, in Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Owens was the daughter of the late Arthur Herman Garner and Conie Belle Brown Garner. She had worked for Acme-McCrary Corporation and Pinehurst Textiles. She was a member of Richland Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband, Garland F. Owens; son, Frankie Owens; sisters, Alma Garner, Pauline Brown; and brother, Delbert Garner. Surviving are son, Ivan Owens and wife, Beth, of Asheboro; sisters, Lola G. Maness, of Asheboro, Stella G. Cagle, Shelby G. Bean, both of Seagrove, Barbara G. Hall, of Asheboro, Zora Ellen G. Pugh, of Asheboro; grandchildren, David Owens, Lisa Newell, Billy Owens, Shawna Wicker; great grandchildren, Megan Owens, Nathaniel Owens, Joseph Wicker; and several beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro.
