Hatlie Ray Thompson, 75, of Asheboro, passed away in peace on January 31, 2023.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2023, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mike Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
Born on April 29, 1947 in Randolph County, NC, Hatlie was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Ila Thompson. He graduated from Asheboro High School in 1965. Hatlie was a man of God, he dedicated his life to the Lord. He would preach to anyone that would listen and was always concerned where everyone would spend eternity. Hatlie was a deacon and song leader at Zion Praise and Worship Center. He was an avid gold prospector. His hobby on Earth was panning for gold and now he is walking on streets of gold with Jesus. Hatlie was definitely the head of the household and he led his family with a firm, steady hand. He loved his family and his church family dearly. We are all very thankful for the time that we had with him and take comfort in knowing that we will see him again.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Eldora Lautenschleger; and his brother, Allen Ray Thompson II.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Thompson; children, Paul Thompson (Alisa), Mark Thompson, Sr. (Tip); grandchildren, Ashley Thompson-Caviness (Chris), Mark Thompson, Jr., Heather Thompson-Grant (Trevor), Brandon Thompson, Matthew Thompson (Olivia); great grandchildren, Makalah Thompson, Ayden Grant, Kambree Grant, Riley Thompson, and Lavender Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Ridge Funeral Home prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
