Harvey Ellis Rich

Mr. Harvey Ellis Rich, 65, of Sophia, NC, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at The Randolph Hospice House. A graveside service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Mt. View Independent Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Pugh officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Rich was born April 5, 1949. He was the son of late George Rich and Miranda Hoover Rich. He had worked at Bulla Glass & Mirror. Mr. Rich served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict, where he was a part of the 101st Aviation Battalion. He earned the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. Mr. Rich also earned the Purple Heart, Military Merit and suspension Ribbon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Rich and sister, Ruby Rich Cagle. Mr. Rich is survived by his cousins, Charles Bulla and wife, Ann, Virginia Lilly and husband, Earl, Grace Humble and husband, Harvey, Doris Bulla; special friends, Farrell Turner, Alvin Hoover, Susan Farmsworth, Ray Satterfield, David Kenyon, seven employees of the Mountain View Market, and faithful friend, "Bandit". The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 11:30am, Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home.
