Harriet Preimats

Mrs. Harriet Jean Gooch Preimats, 61, of Asheboro, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, May 4, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Asheboro, NC, with Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial will held at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 4, 2012, at Green Level Baptist Church Cemetery in Cary, NC. A native of Wake County, NC, Mrs. Preimats was born on May 6, 1950. She was the daughter of Helen Collins Gooch, of Cary, NC, and the late Eugene Troy Gooch. She was a 1968 graduate of Apex High School and a 1973 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.A. in education. She retired from Asheboro City Schools after 28 years of teaching and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a devoted grandmother to her 3 grandsons and enjoyed spending time on the water at Wrightsville Beach. Mrs. Preimats, in addition to her mother, is survived by her husband of 37 years, Peter Preimats, of the home; daughter, Marija Alford and husband, Clay, of Wilmington, NC, and their sons, Owen Alford and Camden Alford; daughter, Jeana Bruchs and husband, Brian, of Charlotte, NC, and their son, Kieran Bruchs; brothers, Steve Gooch, of Siler City, NC, Mark Gooch, of Apex, NC; sister, Rose Edwards, of Morrisville, NC; sister-in-law, Rudite Robinson and husband, David, of Okemos, MI. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, Jim "Catfish"� Hunter Chapter, 120 Penmarc Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27603, or to Hospice of Randolph, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Harriet's caregivers, Kim Monniger, Bonnie Martin and Wilo Dene Powell.
