Harlen Eugene Hunt, 83, of Asheboro, died Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro. Born in Randolph County, NC, on August 5, 1936, Harlen was the son of the late William Everette Hunt and Claudie Tero Trotter Hunt. He was retired from Luck's Inc. and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was a hard working and outspoken man who cared deeply for his family. In addition to his parents, Harlen was preceded in death by his brothers, Guy Hunt, Reed Hunt, Arnold Hunt, John Hunt, Coy Hunt, Robert Hunt, Raymond Hunt, Jerry Hunt and sister, Nellie Jane Hunt. Surviving are his wife, Illa Wilson Hunt of the home; sons, Ronald Hunt (Donna) of the home, Ricky Hunt (Doris) of York, SC; daughters, Pamela Sulier (Don) of Rock Hill, SC, Sandra Rowe of Rock Hill, SC; brother, W.E. Hunt (Paulette) of Asheboro; sisters, Emma Thomas of Asheboro, Mary Ann Green (Lee) of Seagrove; grandchildren, Jacob Hunt (Jessica), Katherine Hunt, Sadena Hunt, Amber McIntosh (Jim), Ricky Hunt II (Kristi), Matthew Carter (Ashley), Anthony Carter (Rachel), Dustin Jones (Megan), Ashley Jones, Lisa Gale Daugherty (Mike); 15 great grandchildren. Due to restrictions on group gatherings, a private graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In memory of Harlen and in honor of his dog, Aerie, donations may be made to the Randolph County Animal Shelter, 1370 County Land Rd., Randleman, NC 27317.
