Hamp Rush

Mr. Hampton Wade "Hamp" Rush, 65, of Sophia, NC, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at High Point Regional Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, August 1, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Reeder officiating. Burial will follow at Back Creek Friends Meeting Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Rush was born April 4, 1946. He was the son of the late Hal Stanton Rush and Laura Mae Hunt Rush. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his grandchildren, and at Terry's Southern Automotive with his friends, James and Terry Hunt. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rush was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Rush, Jack Rush and Gene Rush, and his sister, Evelyn McDowell. Mr. Rush is survived by his wife, Mildred Rush, of the home; daughter, Sherry Nichols and husband, Roger, of Sophia, NC; sons, Terry Rush, of Sophia, NC, Shaun Rush and wife, Lisa, of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Michael Trogdon and Erika Nichols, both of Sophia, NC; half-sister, Doris Dunn, of Asheboro, NC; mother-in-law, Edith Hancock, of the home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
