Mrs. Grace Lou Davis Flynt, 79, of Denton, NC, died Friday, April 15, 2011, at her residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Pine Hill United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member, with Pastor Kelly Creekmur and Scott Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Davidson County, NC, Mrs. Flynt was born March 27, 1932. She was the daughter of the late William Jake Davis and Meda Smith Davis. She worked as a seamstress and she enjoyed doing crafts and working in her yard. Grace was a mother and grandmother to all the children in her community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Flynt, son, Donald C. Flynt, her brother, Edmund Davis, her grandson, Martin Luther, a special cousin Graham Davis, to whom she was as close as a brother, and a nephew, Jimmy Cook. Mrs. Flynt is survived by her "adopted" daughter, Cynthia Kavanaugh, and husband, Bill, of Denton; sister, Josephine Davis Cook, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Darlene Luther Morris and husband, James, David Luther, Roger Luther, Jonathan Flynt, Nickolas Brewer and wife, Jenna, Christopher Brewer and wife, Becky, niece, Phyllis Graves; nephews, Harold Cook, Billy Cook, Terry Cook, Mark Davis; 11 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Pine Hill United Methodist Church and other times at the home.
