Gladys Vanhoy Salmons

Mrs. Gladys Elizabeth Vanhoy Salmons, 81, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at her residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, February 28, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Charles T. Reeder officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Yadkin County, NC, Mrs. Salmons was born September 28, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Floyd Thurman Vanhoy and Maudie Mae Wagoner Vanhoy. She was the owner and operator of Gladys's Ceramic Shop. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Salmons was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Salmons, son, Larue Salmons, and daughter, RoaxAnn Salmons. Mrs. Salmons is survived by daughters, Sandra K. Salmons, of Asheboro, NC; son, Montie Alexander Salmons and wife, Dianne, of Asheboro, NC; sisters, Barbara V. Barnette and husband, Charles, of Columbia, SC, Glenda Mae V. Martin and husband, Spencer, of Ronda, NC; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home.
