Gladys Beane

July 26, 1926 — September 17, 2024

"Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His saints."Psalm 116:15

On September 17, 2024 Gladys Maness Beane of Seagrove, NC passed away at Clapp's in Asheboro.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Union Grove Baptist Church in Seagrove with Dr. Ronnie Chaney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the church prior to the service, and other times at the home of Ricky and Donna Craven.

Gladys was born July 26, 1926 the daughter of the late Walker Maness and Ethel Comer Maness. She was married to Lacy Beane.

Gladys and Lacy were dedicated members of Union Grove Baptist Church. For several years, Gladys was a Sunday School Teacher touching the lives of many young girls and was also a dedicated member of the choir for many years.

Gladys worked as seamstress for Pinehurst Textiles and later for various small furniture manufacturers the last being owned by some of her most cherished friends, Guy and Viola Lamonds.

Gladys enjoyed working with flowers and would spend many hours working in her flower garden for all to enjoy.

Gladys valued her family and friends and loved them all deeply. She loved to prepare wonderful meals for her family and no one was allowed to leave her home without at least one piece of candy to take with them (most times it was a pocket full of treats).

When Gladys was no longer able to stay at home, she moved to Clapp's. She immediately began making friends and soon referred to it as her home. Although we know she would have preferred to have been home cooking for her family and working in her yard, we know friendships formed in the last two years have meant so much to her.

Loved ones that preceded her through heaven's gates in addition to her parents were her loving husband, Lacy, her siblings, Pauline Reeder, Ruby Beane, and Willie Maness.

Those left to carry on her legacy (and hopefully her longevity) are her children: Tommy (Martha) Beane, Ronnie (Sheila) Beane, Joan(Edwin) Cockman, Doyle Beane , and Donna (Ricky) Craven; Grandchildren: Sherri Beane, Summer Covington, Greg Beane (Hope), Randy Beane, Ricky Beane, Tammy Beane, Beth Cockman-Wood (Rich), Crystal Cockman, Daniel Craven (Allison), Jordan Beane, Rachel Wicker (Matthew), and Jeffrey Beane. Great-grandchildren: Megan Wood, Weston Wicker, ClaraRose Wicker, Nathaniel Craven and Ava Craven. Step-grandchildren: Kelly Moore (Rob), Marti Kendrick(Junior), Jason Beck (Katrina), Step-great grandchildren: Caleb Moore, Eli Moore, Ray Kendrick, Jessica Helmstetler (Matt), Step great-great grandchildren: Olivia Helmstetler, Lucas Helmstetler, Ben Beck. As well as many nieces and nephews.

"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. "

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.
