Gilbert Hayes Presnell

Rev. Gilbert Hayes Presnell, 66, of Asheboro, died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Friendship Baptist Church, Randleman, with Rev. Ralph Pugh, Dr. Bruce Dickerson and Rev. Jeff Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. Born in Randolph County, NC on March 21, 1949, Rev. Presnell was the son of the late Robert Lane Nixon Presnell and Etta Mae Saunders Presnell. He worked for many years at BB Walker Shoes and then for Prestige Fabricators. He also was a minister for 21 years. Rev. Presnell was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church, who loved the Lord and his family. In addition to his parents, Rev. Presnell was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hinson Presnell, sister, Nancy Carol Hancock, and brother, David Eugene Presnell. Surviving are his sons, Robert Presnell and wife, Sherry, of Randleman, Timmy Presnell and wife, Rebecca, of Statesville; grandchildren, Nathan Todd Hilton and Colby Nicholas Hilton; and his little buddy, Leo. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204; Friendship Baptist Church, 2235 Spero Road, Randleman, NC 27317; or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
