Gilbert Benjamin Cox

Mr. Gilbert "Gib"� Benjamin Cox, 78, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, September 22, 2011, at The Randolph Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, September 26, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Jarrell and Rev. Michael Hayden, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Cox was born March 23, 1933. He was the son of the late Jeremiah Cox and Ona McNeil Cox. He retired from Pep's Appliances and he served honorably in the US Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Jenkins; brother, Harvey Cox; sister, Ruby Lineberry and granddaughter, Stephanie Cox. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife of 40 years, Frances Cox, of the home; daughters, Shelby Hayden-Clifton, of Asheboro, Mary Cox and husband, Steve, of Asheboro; sons, Wayne Hayden, Leon Hayden, both of Asheboro, Rev. Michael Hayden, Sr. and wife, Sue of Maryland; sisters, Louise Maness, Marie Hussey, both of Asheboro, Colene Marley, of Coleridge; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
