Gerald Howard "Jerry" Boyer, 59, of Supply, NC, died Friday, February 1, 2019 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be conducted 5:00 p.m. Thursdays, February 7, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Ernesto Robledo officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Redding, CA, Mr. Boyer was born July 31, 1959, the son of Darlene Charlotte Scott Ahrbeck and stepfather, Glynn Boyer, and the late Lloyd Harmon. Mr. Boyer had served in the US Army, Green Beret, 5th Special Forces, when he met his lovely wife, Mary Martinez Boyer. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he went into the field of geotechnical engineering. He became a ground modification specialist and traveled the world as a superintendent. He enjoyed meeting people and helping others wherever he traveled, and never met a stranger. He earned an Associates Degree in Auto Mechanics, and his mechanical skills and abilities served him well in the projects that he oversaw all over the US, Guam, Greece and Guatemala. He had a lifelong love of the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and cooking. Most of all he loved his family, including the family he created wherever he roamed. Mr. Boyer is also survived by his two wonderful children, Jeremy Nicholas Boyer (Misty), Miranda Darlene Boyer Thompson (Shelby); six grandchildren, Treiuna Davis, Rogue Davis, Chloe King, Howard "Howie" Boyer, Niko Boyer, Stella Thompson; brothers, Ed Boyer, Fred Boyer, Vernon Boyer; special aunts, Beverly Loftis, Sharon Scott; special uncle, Curtis Scott, and very special cousins, Debra Beck and Rod Loftis. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, at Ridge Funeral Home.
