George Raymond Peters

Mr. George Raymond Peters, 48, of Franklinville, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, October 4, 2010, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Asheboro, where he was a member, with Bishop Gary Cecil officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. A native of Tampa, FL, Mr. Peters was born June 30, 1962. He was the son of George Summers Peters and Shirley Frances Mabe Peters, of Bristol, TN. Mr. Peters graduated from John Battle High School in Bristol, TN, then continued his education graduating from Virginia Highland Community College in Abingdon, VA, and Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA, with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. He served in many capacities in his church, most recently as the Elders Quorum President. He was a board member of the Sophia Support Club, helping to organize several fund raising events for those in need. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, hunting, and coached his youngest daughters basketball teams at different times. His passion was spending time with his family and serving others. Mr. Peters, in addition to his parents, is survived by his wife, Linda Peters, of the home; daughters, Tiffany Danielle Peters, Kirsten Nicole Peters, both of the home; son, Shane Justin Peters, and wife, Jessica, of Greensboro, NC, grandchild, Kaden McCoy Peters, of Greensboro, NC; brother-in-law, Donald Morris, wife, Karen, of Grant, FL, sister-in-law, Carol Morris Sonney, and husband, Robert, of Hendersonville, TN. He also leaves behind three nieces, two nephews, four great nieces, six great nephews and several cousins, aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been set up in the name of George Peters at Wachovia Bank to help the family offset funeral expenses.
