George Branning

March 19, 1930 — March 2, 2013

Mr. George Harold Branning, 82, of Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Grace Baptist Temple with Pastor Mark Myers and Dr. Jack Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Indianapolis, IN, Mr. Branning was born March 19, 1930. He was the son of the late Fred Hiram Branning and Emma Dodge Branning. He was a graduate of Freewill Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN, and was an ordained minister who had pastored at several churches in this area. He was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Temple where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. His loss will be a huge void to his church family. He had worked at the Tip Top Bakery, Thomas Tire and later at Asheboro Recycling Center where he was a true inspiration to his co-workers. Mr. Branning served in the US Marines during the Korean War. Mr. Branning had a strong love for his family and church. He never met a stranger, even to go as far as making inspirational scrapbooks for those he just met. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tom Branning, and his sister, Carolyn Trowbridge. Mr. Branning, is survived by his wife, Carrie S. Branning; daughters, Deborah Cox and husband, Eddie, of Asheville, NC, Sharon Walker, of Grays Chapel, NC, Mary Branning, of Asheboro, NC, Joy Branning, of Asheboro, NC; son, John Branning and Christina Foundation, of Dallas, TX; sisters, Margaret Gann, Mary Denton, both of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Tom Branning, of Indianapolis, IN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and two grand dogs, Taylor and Chloe. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Temple, P.O. Box 467, Seagrove, NC or Bible Broadcasting Network, P.O. Box 7300, Charlotte, NC 28241. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Patricia Shevlin and the staff at Asheboro Family Physicians for the care of Mr. Branning.
