Geno Lunsford

Rufus Eugene "Geno" Lunsford, Sr., 79, of Asheboro, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fred Ashley officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Stanly County, Mr. Lunsford was born May 14, 1936 to the late Samuel and Ruth Lee Lunsford. He was a member of the Congregation Christian Church in Albemarle and was retired from Everready Battery. Mr. Lunsford served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Marie Lambert Lunsford of the home; daughters, Crystal McCracken and husband, Ron of Julian, Deborah Williams and husband, Joel of Asheboro, Christine Craven and husband, Kelvin of Asheboro; son, Rufus Eugene "Dude" Lunsford, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Denton; grandchildren, Christopher Wood, Savannah Williams, Alannah Williams, Seth Craven, Kaycee Craven, Taylor Lunsford, Tia Lunsford, Jake Lunsford; and great-grandchild, Allie Christine Moran. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
