Mrs. Geneva Moran Hoover, 83, formerly of Asheboro, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at The Kenwood by Senior Star in Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Coddington and Rev. Mike McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. A native of Stokes County, Mrs. Hoover was born September 17, 1931 to the late Willis and Myrtle Slate Moran. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Hoover was retired from Black & Decker and ran a beauty salon beside her home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She was known around Asheboro as "The Bread Lady" for her delicious sourdough bread. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hoover was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harold Lloyd Hoover; five brothers, Manual, Bobby, William, Garfield and Wesley Moran. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Harris and husband, Jim Coddington of Cincinnati, OH; son, Dale Hoover and wife, Mary, of Asheboro; sisters, Esther Follett and Faye Floyd, both of Wartrace, TN; grandson, James Koch and wife, Amy; stepdaughter, Stephanie Lanier and husband, Bryan and their son, Levi; step-grandson, Nathan Harris and wife, Emily; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Dale and Mary Hoover.
