He found enjoyment in riding his tractors, tilling the earth, and seeing the crops produce. In his later years, he closed his milking business and raised Angus beef cows. He had a natural knack of tending his cows with gentle patience. Gene was a US Army veteran. Due to an ear injury in the service, he was hard of hearing. His hobbies were farming, fishing, bowling, boating and being around people. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Mr. Heath is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Hill Heath; son, Dewey Alan Heath, of Randleman, NC; daughter, Amy Hogan and husband, Mark, of New Hope, NC; grandson and namesake, Treece "Eugene" Hogan; brother, Charles Heath and wife, Margaret, of El Sobrante, CA; several nephews and a niece. Treece spent the last 5 summers farming with his grandpaw on the farm. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall at the South Plainfield Friends.
