Garry Leon Hughes, 60, of Asheboro, died Thursday, November 20, 2014, at his home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014, in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Shepherd Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Asheboro. Mr. Hughes was born on November 20, 1954 in Randolph County, NC. He was the son of the late Sanford Hughes and Bessie Causey Hughes. He had worked for Billings Trucking in Lexington. Mr. Hughes enjoyed watching racing, fishing and spending time with friends at the lake. In additon to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Hughes, Wilbur Hughes and Hurley Hughes. Surviving are his wife, Brenda McAdden Hughes, of the home; son, Nathan Hughes; and sister, Annie Mae Wooten, of Sophia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home.
