Garland Hayworth Siler

Mr. Garland Hayworth Siler, 82, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, February 20, 2011, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, February 25, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Harold Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland McCrary Cemetery in Ramseur. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Siler was born October 8, 1928. He was the son of the late Lexie Siler and Josie Cassady Siler. Mr. Siler was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and he served in the US Army during Korea. His favorite hobbies were fishing and cooking. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. Mr. Siler is survived by daughters, Sundra Hooker, of Asheboro, Judy White, of Randleman, Doris Siler, of Maryland, Penny Siler, of Asheboro, Marsha Foxx and husband, James, of Snow Camp; sons, Marvin Goldston, of Brooklyn, NY, Robert Siler, Terry Siler and wife, Yvette, all of Asheboro; sister, Nancy Goldston, of Coleridge; 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Friday, February 25, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Penny Siler, 223 Vista Parkway, Asheboro.
