Gail Prescott Hurley

Gail Prescott Hurley, 85, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Randolph Health in Asheboro.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 908 Albemarle Road, Asheboro, with Pastor James Coggins officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. 

Gail who was also known as "Shug" or "Ghurley" was born on January 26, 1941, in Catawba County, the daughter of the late Elam Patrick Prescott, Jr. and Hazel Raley Prescott. She worked for the Asheboro City School system before working and retiring at Klaussner Furniture in California. She was a member of West Bend Church. Gail always enjoyed cutting up and laughing with those she loved. She always loved to dance while listening to "good" music. Gail had a deep love for her grandchildren that she loved spending time with.

In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her husband Richard Hurley, and brother, Mike Prescott.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Hurley Pope and husband Jay of Randleman; grandchildren, Raley Pope, Gannon Pope; nephew, Shane Prescott and wife Jennifer; great nieces, Adda Prescott, Emme Prescott; and her precious dog, "Cricket".

The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m., at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service.
