Freda Voncannon

Freda Akers VonCannon, 77, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Charles Reeder officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, Asheboro. Born May 3, 1940 in Roanoke, VA, Mrs. VonCannon was the daughter of the late Wilford and Beatrice Akers. She enjoyed sewing and vacationing in the mountains. Mrs. VonCannon loved children and her cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray VonCannon; two sisters; and five brothers. Survivors include her daughters, Donna Lee Callicutt and husband, James of Walkertown, Diana Overton Martin and husband, Buddy of Asheboro; son, Anthony Wayne VonCannon of Asheboro; grandchildren, Rhianna Lee Dodd, Tyler Ray Overton, both of Asheboro; great-grandchildren, Alishia Dawn Baker, Amber Lee Dodd; and great-great-grandson, Kenneth Roman Chambers. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 p.m. Sunday at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter, Diana and Buddy Martin.
