Fred David Olson

Fred "Freddie" David Olson, 88, of Asheboro, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020, at his home. Fred was born on July 20, 1931 in Randolph Co., to the late Fred William Olson and Margaret Ellen Martin Olson. He was retired from Klaussner Furniture and and graduated from a 2 year auto mechanic school in Nashville. Fred served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a natural musician who could play several instruments. Fred played bluegrass at the NC Fair and other festivals. He attended Bethel Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church when he was able. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Richard Olson; and sisters, Lucille Hayes and Margaret Ann Hunt. He is survived by his wife, Vonna "Red" Trotter Olson of the home; sisters, Rachel Van Alst and Mary Frances Olson, both of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews. Due to restrictions on group gatherings,a private graveside will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020, at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Claudie Harrison, Rev. Brian Cole, Rev. Grayson McNeill officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204 or Bethel Baptist Church, 4836 Robbins Circle, Asheboro, NC 27205. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of Randolph and the nurses Lynette and Destiny.
