Fred Grayson Hill, 91, of Asheboro, passed away at Randolph Health on March 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Union Grove Christian Church with Pastor Scott Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Fred was born in Randolph County on July 14, 1932, to the late Troy Hill and Camera Rush Hill.
Fred retired from Energizer Battery after 19 years where he was also a part of the bowling league. He was the oldest member of Union Grove Christian Church, and served as a superintendent for many years. Fred also served on the cemetery committee, taught Sunday school classes, youth group, and was a deacon. He served his country faithfully during the Korean War and was an avid Duke Blue Devil fan.
In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Betty Jean Cagle Hill; sister, Betty H. Cagle; brothers, Vernon Hill, Sid Hill; and son-in-law, Eddie Brown.
Fred is survived by his two daughters, Tammy Hill, of Asheboro, Penny Brown, of Randleman; grandchildren, Brooke Carrick (Keegan), of AR, Brent Brown, and his fur baby, Molly
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ridge Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jean Copen for her loving care given to their father, as well as the Randolph Health nursing staff on floor 4.
