Fred Hayes

Fred Hayes, 87, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, NC, with Rev. Tim Fonner officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, NC, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Hayes was born November 24, 1927, the son of the late James and Janie Davis Hayes. He attended Russell's Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Central Machine Shop. Mr. Hayes had served in the US Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Upton Hayes, and sister, Faye Powers. Survivors include his sisters, Bonnie Evans, of Greensboro, Ruby Brady, Phyllis Hammond, both of Asheboro, and brother, Wayne Hayes, of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, NC, and other times at the home of Phyllis Hammond, 629 Graceland Drive, Asheboro, NC.
