Frank Thomas Rose

Mr. Frank Thomas Rose, 66, of 3564 Sam Jackson Road, Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, January 23, 2010, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after an extended illness. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Rose was born on March 19, 1943 in Randolph County and he was raised in Star. He was a fireman for the City of Asheboro and was a member of Christian Fellowship Church. He was a member of Balfour Masonic Lodge # 188. He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Thomas Rose. Mr. Rose served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He was a past State Commander for the American Legion, a life member of the American Legion Post #45, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 38 in Ramseur, a life member of the VFW #527 in Troy, and a life member of the American Veterans Post #240 in Denton. He co-founded the Randolph County Honor Guard and the Randolph County Veterans Council. He also designed and promoted the Randolph County Veterans Memorial. He was a recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Award in 1995. He was a member on the Disabled Sportsman Committee for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, instrumental in passage of legislation providing access for disabled sportsmen. Surviving are his wife, Carol Keeling Rose, of the home; son, Jeffrey Thomas Rose and his wife, Lisa, of Cheyenne, WY; mother, Beulah M. Smith, of Seagrove; sister, Anita Kennedy, of Seagrove; grandchildren, Madeline Martinez and her husband, Thomas, and Zachary Rose, all of Cheyenne, WY. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
