Frances Mae Ivey Jernigan, 91, of Asheboro, went peacefully to be with The Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, 1928 N. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, with Rev. Matt Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born on June 15, 1926 in Robeson County, NC, Mrs. Jernigan was the daughter of the late Henry Mathuel Ivey and Janie Elizabeth Burke Ivey. She attended West Asheboro Church of God and was retired from J. P. Stevens. She was a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jernigan was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Jernigan; brothers, Walter Ivey, Durham Ivey; sisters, Pauline Blackwell and Bertha Jackson. Surviving are her daughters, Ann Sikes, of the home, Faye Gaster and husband, Tommy, of Ramseur; sons, Benny Jernigan and wife, Sandra, of Asheboro, Carl Jernigan, of the home; sister, Mildred Britt, of St. Pauls, brother, Cecil Ivey, of St. Pauls; grandchildren, Michael Gaster and wife, Sherry, Charles Sikes and wife, Sharon, Leslie Albright and husband, Timmy, Carla Ridgill and husband, Jason, Jon Jernigan and wife, Michelle; eight great-grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Ruth Jernigan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church.
