Gene Paul Derry

Eugene Paul Derry, 79, of Randleman, passed away, Friday, June 5, 2026 at Alpine Health and Rehabilitation in Asheboro.

Gene was born on March 17, 1947, in Christian County, Illinois to the late Rolla and Irene Derry. His humor was sharp and his personality unforgettable. A true social butterfly, he loved being surrounded by family and friends and was happiest wherever there was good company and plenty of conversation. He treasured the simple joys in life, especially time spent at the beach.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his grandson, Cory Ryan Clayton, Jr.

Surviving are his wife, Lori Derry of the home; daughter, BreeAnn Campbell of North Carolina; sons, Cory Clayton (Rebecca) of Texas, Michael Derry of Illinois; grandchildren, Bryce Derry (Marisa), Easton Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Michael Clayton, Brydan Clayton, Chase Clayton, Samuel Clayton, and McKenzie Clayton.
