Esther Sorrow Birt Kennedy

Mrs. Esther Sorrow Birt Kennedy, 76, of Maple Springs Road, Seagrove, died Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Terry officiating. Burial will follow at Huldah Baptist Church Cemetery. Born on May 24, 1933, in Abbeville, SC, Mrs. Kennedy was the daughter of the late Robert and Emma Patton Sorrow. She was a homemaker and attended Whynot Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death one grandchild, four sisters, and one brother. Surviving are her husband, Lacy Kennedy, of the home; daughters, Rhonda McLeod, of Blackville, SC, Bronna Hoover, of Asheboro; sons, Frankie Birt, of Santee, SC, Wayne Birt, of Olar, SC, Lacy Kennedy, Jr., of Lexington, NC, Donald Kennedy, of Asheboro; sisters, Nonie Tucker, of Abbeville, SC, Emma Norton, of Greenwood, SC; seven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 20, 2010, and other times at the home of Bronna Hoover, 445 Northampton Dr., Asheboro. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
