Esther Hicks

Mrs. Esther Geneva Woodell Hicks, 90, of Greensboro, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Panther Creek Baptist Church, Asheboro, NC, with Pastor Howard Owens and Pastor Franklin Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Hicks was born March 31, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Arthur Woodell and Alice Voncannon Woodell. She loved her family and taking care of the grandbabies. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her husband, William Henry Hicks; daughter, Kimberly Hicks Stanley and husband, Michael, of Oak Ridge, NC; son, Ronald Gardner and wife, Ruth, of Stoneville, NC; grandchildren, Randy Gardner, Ronnie Gardner, Chelsea Stanley, Crystal Stanley, Caitlyn Stanley, Hillary Key; great grandchildren, Courtney Shelton, Brittney Gardner, Nicole Gardner, Randy Gardner, II; great-great grandchildren, Reed Shelton, Tyson Shelton, Hayden Jacobs, Harleigh Jacobs and Jaxon Gardner. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home.
