Esta Maness

Mrs. Esta Jane Harvell Maness, 97, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, January 28, 2013, in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Maness was born September 21, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Claude Harvell and Vicy Jane Vuncannon Harvell. She was a member of Huldah Baptist Church and liked to gardens, flowers and loved her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Maness, her son, Thomas Maness, Jr., her son-in-law, Jesse Yow, her sisters, Francis Matherly and Ailene Berry, and her brothers, Wade Harvell, Early Harvell and Wilton Harvell. Mrs. Maness is survived by her daughter, Faye Yow, of Asheboro, NC; daughter-in-law, Diane Maness, of Asheboro, NC; sister, Betty Knotts, of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Cynthia Caviness and husband, Norman, Shelia Sheffield and husband, Grady, Melinda Owens and husband, Steve, Scott Maness; 10 great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, one step grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Monday, January 28, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Randolph, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
