Ernestine Vanopstal

Ernestine Barker VanOpstal, loving mother and grandmother, 94, of Asheboro, died Monday, December 26, 2016 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt Gunter officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Dobson City Cemetery, Dobson, NC. Born May 30, 1922 in Surry County, NC, Mrs. VanOpstal was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lucy Callahan. She attended West Asheboro Church of God. Mrs. VanOpstal was retired from Stedman's and Barker Furniture. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Porter F. Barker and John VanOpstal; two sons, Larry Franklin Barker and Jerry Wayne Barker; granddaughter, Penny Humphrey Jones; and great-granddaughter Kellie Deanna Humphrey. Mrs. VanOpstal is survived by her daughter, Lucy Lee Felts and husband, Rev. Jimmy Felts of Cana, VA; special daughter-in-law, Lori Barker of Asheboro; grandchildren, Justin Shane Barker and wife, Sherryl, Jason Wayne Barker, Jarrod Lane Barker, Robin Alford and husband, Ricky; great-grandchildren, Kevin Lee Humphrey, Jamyn Barker, Jordan Alford, Taylor Alford, Daniel Botchway, Jr., Katherine Botchway; and three great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home.
