Ernest R. Russell

Ernest R. Russell, 89, of Asheboro, passed away, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at New Hope Memorial Gardens, Asheboro, with his son, Dale Russell, officiating.

Born on December 27, 1936, in Randolph County, NC, Ernest was the son of the late Robert F. Russell and Lizzie Smith Russell. He retired from R & H Trucking after 25 years of service. Ernest was a member of Woodfern Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Olivia Russell; sister, Dorothy Cox; and brother, Lloyd Russell.

Surviving are his sons, Dale Russell (Cheryl), Steve Russell (Debbie); stepdaughter, Deborah Poole (Alvin); stepson, Jeff Greeson (Gloria); grandchildren, Charity Ellis (Scott), Jonathan Russell (Courtney), Robert Russell (Autumn), Jesse Russell (Marylynn); step grandchildren, Lauren Greeson, Megan Greeson (Ali), Taylor Weary (Bobby); five great grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren.
