Mrs. Emma Lee McClain Brooks, 59, of Asheboro, passed away Friday night, December 3, 2010, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Vision of Unity Outreach Ministries with Pastor Deneal McNair officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Brooks was born November 5, 1951. She was a long time employee of Galey & Lord and had also worked at Dart Container prior to becoming ill. She was preceded in death by her father, Fredrick Smitherman, step father, William Alsbrook, and brother, James Alsbrook. Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband, Edward Brooks, daughters, Evonne Alsbrook, Christina Leach and husband, David, Tolanda Fletcher and husband, Keith, Bettie Brooks, Donna Alsbrook, all of Asheboro, NC; god daughter, Renorda Taylor and husband, Theodore, of Asheboro, NC; mother, Betty Alsbrook, of the home; sisters, Verlene Spinks, Etta Phillips and husband, Darryl, Julia Johnson, all of Asheboro, NC, Laketha Smitherman, of Atlanta, GA, Paulette Smitherman, of Troy, NC; brother, Fredrick Smitherman, of Troy, NC; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 "� 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, and other times at the home of her daughter, 2327 N. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC.
