Elta Hogan

Elta Lee Hogan 99, of Asheboro, died Monday, January 25, 2016 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Scotty Carpenter and Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. A native of Montgomery County, Miss Elta was born August 25, 1916 to the late Benjamin and Lula Cagle Hogan. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church, she was a faithful and willing Christian who taught Sunday school, was a member of the bereavement committee, and Women's Missionary Union. Miss Elta worked for many years at Scott's Book Store and other bookstores in Greensboro and Wilmington. She enjoyed playing golf in her younger years, was a gracious hostess. and generous giver. Miss Elta was a fantastic cook, she was known for her chocolate pound cakes and persimmon pudding. Her knowledge of community history was amazing. In addition to her parents, Miss Elta was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl E. "Pete" Hogan, Clinton Hogan, Harold Hogan and sister, Mary H. Yow. She is survived by special nieces, Krisha Fulcher and husband, John and Natasya Frassrand and husband, Ed Hart, all of Florida; several cousins; several nieces and nephews; and loving caregiver and longtime friend, Carolyn Thomas. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, P.O.
