Ellis Slone

Mr. Ellis Slone, age 64, of 2417 Stutts Road, Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Randolph Memorial Park with the Pastor John Harmon officiating. Mr. Slone was a native of Pike County, Kentucky where he was a graduate of Feds Creek High School. He had been employed with Klopman Mills/Burlington Industries as a shipping and transportation supervisor. Most recently he was employed with Ken & Leroy Hunt Builders where he retired in 2007. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a US Army Veteran and he served in the 1960's in Turkey. He was preceded in death by his parents John M. & Stella T. Slone; infant sisters, Ada & Ida Slone; sister, Lurcy S. Kendrick; and brothers, Nathaniel Slone and Joe Slone. Surviving are his wife, Johnnie Ward Slone, of the home; daughters, Cheryl Slone, of Charlotte, Julia Tarlton and husband, Justin, of Asheboro; grandson, Noah Slone Tarlton; of Asheboro; sisters, Sarah Bryant and husband, Dewey, of Pemberville, OH, May Howard, of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Jeanette T. Slone, of Pikeville, KY; uncle, Noah Slone, Pikeville, KY; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday and other times at the home.
